Hey JTrece crew, Is there a general place that young adults sit at mass? It would sure be nice to see some familiar faces in that big church! I go to both the 8am and the 10am masses (not on the same Sunday!)

Hey everyone, We're gearing up in preparation for our AWESOME summer event...Theology-On-Tap! WOOHOO!!!
Theology on Tap (for young adults - single or married) will occur at the Cathedral on July 11th, 18th, 25th and August 1st. We're looking for people who want to get involved in various committees that have been formed in preparation for this event (i.e. FUNDRAISING, decorations, a/v, hospitality, etc). Please let us know if you would like to help out!
This is a team effort, and we're excited for the opportunity that our group has been given to host the events at the Cathedral. I hope to see you all there (and I really hope you would like to help too! haha).
Let me know if you have any questions. Take care, God bless...PEACE!

Hey everyone, some of you know me, some don't. For those who don't, I'm new in town, have been attending the Cathedral for about 2 weeks now and will do my best to attend the next NoD next week.
Anyway, the reason for the thread is that next Saturday I need some help. I have sorted out an apartment for myself and move in on Saturday, however it is unfurnished and I need to furnish it. If anyone with a car would be available for an ikea trip I would be very grateful if they could contact me. There will be beers or similar in the evening as a big thank you!
Sergio, Tasha, Lucy and Fr. Francis have my cell number. If you need it then ask one of them.
Thanks a lot, and God bless. Matt.

Thank you guys so much for that night...it was amazing and I can't thank you enough for being such great friends to me. God reminds me constantly through your presence that I am not alone and that I have brothers and sisters walking with me down this journey of faith. I had so much fun...sorry you had to see my little drama at the end, hahaha, I had to get that demon out of me =) And I'm lovin the water cup prayer shot at the end...AMEN indeed! Again...thank you. And I'm still mad I didn't figure it out ahead of time...darn you guys for being so sneaky and me being oblivious to it all. I LOVE YOU!

Greetings,
I know most of you love Disneyland, just like me. So I thought I’d let all you know about this great opportunity! Next year (2009), Disney will be offering a free entry on your birthday!
You can either register online to get the paperwork done and over with or you can simply show up on "your" day and get in free! If you have a season pass, which I know some of you have, you can get other prices like a gift card equal to a ticket value for you to spend at the park :D. How exciting ha?

Hi everyone - Please read the links below & keep Jamaica in your prayers. Because of the aftermath effects of the hurricane, 3 kids from the Mustard Seed communities passed away from what is being described as trauma associated with emergency relocation. Sophie's Place (where some of us were staying during our Jamaica mission trip) was waist high in water for days. A "gully" broke sending a 9 foot wave of water into the town and causing a landslide that virtually blocked the road to the home. Fr. Gregory Kamkissoon (the man who started MSC) has said that "the children at Sophie's Place have not been eating properly since the storm and we can't get them back to normal." http://www.mustardseed.com/news/gustav.html http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20080910/lead/lead1.html After MSC thought the storm was over, a few days later thieves came and stole the communities’ marked bus, which was used to transport the children to the hospital. A civil engineer also pointed out that the building being used to temporarily house the children is not structurally sound. The much-needed rebuilding process would cost approximately $12 million.
If you would like to contribute to the Mustard Seed Jamaica Hurricane Relief efforts, donations can be made here: http://www.firstgiving.com/mscjamaicarelief Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

I forgot to mention that the $12 million needed is in Jamaican dollars. That converts to about $170,000 in US dollars.

Hi Monica, Thanks for sharing your TOT experience with the rest of us. I found our (OLA) last talk to be of most interest to young adults, "The gift of sexuality". Michele Flemming was awesome, so easy to follow and understand and get with a great message. I think our NOD core team will invite her to an upcoming talk. Fr. Ken also spoke to OLA on voting and his handouts are of much help. In this upcoming election we need to vote with a Catholic conscious. Again thanks for opening this topic for discussion. God Bless, Helene

Hey everybody! This is Nick. I was at Nights of Discipleship last night (7/15). Just wondering if anyone is going or wants to go to the opera? I actually subscribed to the upcoming '08-09 series. If anyone else is interested in going, let me know and I can try to change dates of when I go. I know this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I've gone to at least one opera every year.

I'm sure that we all share the same feeling of thanksgiving to God for the blessings He has continued to bestow on us, and for the growth of our faith and fellowship through the development of our Nights of Discipleship and J.13 group. What better way to share God's love than to share it with others!!! As Fr. Francis mentioned in a previous email "On Night #8, we talked about our Mission and our call to proclaim Christ to all those we meet. We are called to be a bridge for God and other people, being used as instruments for people to encounter Christ." Therefore, we'd like to get the ball rolling on some service opportunites that we can participate in (invidually or as a group). If anyone has any ideas for service, please feel free to reach out to the group. IDEA #1 There's a need for canned goods to fill the pantry of the Cathedral's Outreach Center. They are running low, and could really use our help to assit to those less fortunate, and they are constantly preparing food for the homeless to be delivered and distributed at centers around Skid Row. Therefore...I would like to invite everyone to take part in a little J.13 canned food drive. Check your cupboards, or next time you go shopping, grab a few extra cans of food ...a little bit can go a long way! The Outreach Center is looking for non-perishable (and not expired) canned foods or items to stock the pantry (pasta is a good one too!). We can gather items for the pantry on 3 dates:
** Sunday, June 8th - after each of the masses...some of us will probably be sitting at a table around the plaza, so join us! If you can't find us, call me (909-720-7809)
** Sunday, June 15th - after each of the masses...we'll be promoting and taking sign-ups for our next NoD meeting.
** Tuesday, June 17th - at our next Nights of Discipleship meeting
PLEASE ADD YOUR OWN IDEAS TOO!

What do you guys think about making sandwiches or lunches for the homeless on one Saturday or Sunday morning? We can utilize the space of the Outreach Center at the Cathedral...and we'll be the ones to bring things like bread, meat, cheese, snacks, etc.
Maybe we can all go to the same mass one Sunday morning at 8am, then make sandwiches after mass together? After that, we can deliver it to the homeless centers that will distribute the food. Anyone interested? =)

I guess this hiatus will be like your 40 days in the desert. I pray you will find further inspiration in the "wilderness". In the meantime, I think we should all step up and contribute even more to the website. If you see a good news article, add it as a reflection. If you come across a good video, add it to one of the video categories. If you have a great idea for a new sub-page, then create it.
Father Francis, I hope your fast from here will be brief.
