..........................................

Privileged to have been afforded the opportunity to attend World Youth Day in Rome in the Jubilee Year of 2000, I remember vividly the call of Pope John Paul II to all young people, when he said, "My young people, I NEED YOU! My young people. GOD NEEDS YOU!" It was a wake up call from the Pope that as the future generation of the Church, we must heroically stand up and take ownership of the Church by sharing generously the gifts and talents we have received from the Lord.

Nights of Discipleship is a program created by Fr. Jim Forsen, the Vocation Director of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. His work is to make contact with prospective men and women interested in a vocation to the Priesthood and Religious life. As you can all imagine, this is a very difficult task, especially in our modern world.

In his work, he found that many young people never even think about a vocation of service to the Church, because a great sense of belonging was missing for many.

And so he created this program, the Nights of Discipleship, to engage single young adults and provide them an opportunity to make connection with the Church. He hoped that in having a sense of belonging and investment to the Parish, young adults may foster an attitude of service, in response to God's loving relationship with us. It also provided the young adults in the parish to meet one another and to discover that they are not alone. Together, we can journey with one another to come to know, love, and serve God.

With one another, we can inspire each other to LIVE IN THE LIGHT of Christ, our teacher, brother, and LORD.

We gather, therefore, on the 3rd Tuesday of every month in the Cathedral Conference Center from 7pm to 9pm. Through prayer, presentation, and faith-sharing, we are able to discern how God is calling us to SERVE the CHURCH, and to support one another in the journey of faith.

Most of J13 met at one of these evenings, and through them we have come to understand our great role to reach out to our brothers and sisters in Christ, and the whole world, through the sharing of our gifts and God's LOVE.

COME JOIN US. We'd love to meet you! See the flyer above for all the pertinent information.
