this breakthrough book
Young Catholic women speak out in humorous, poetic, and intriguing stories.

Liturgical Press is pleased to announce the publication of From the Pews in the Back, an exploration of the identity of young Catholic women.
As young women of the Catholic faith struggle to discover their identity in the church, editors Kate Dugan and Jennifer Owens present twenty-nine poignant essays from women ages eighteen to thirty-five who share their experiences, ask tough questions, and do not accept easy answers.
From the Pews in the Back offers a unique glimpse into what it means to be young, Catholic, and female in today's church. A complete title listing is also available online: www.litpress.org.

Greetings!

Much is said about the environment and climate change. Some might ask, how does this relate to me? What can I do? I would like to highlight the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change. At the center of the Catholic Climate Covenant is The St. Francis Pledge calling Catholic individuals, groups and institutions to make a serious commitment to all of the following: PRAY and reflect on the duty to care for God's creation and for the poor and vulnerable;LEARN about and educate others on the moral dimensions of climate change;ASSESS our participation-as individuals and organizations-in contributing to climate change (i.e. consumption and conservation);ACT to change our choices and behaviors contributing to climate change and;ADVOCATE Catholic principles and priorities in climate change discussions and decisions, especially as they impact the poor and vulnerable.
Together we can become better stewards of all of God's creation.
Be well,
Theresa Thibodeaux

"This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost Sunday is one of the most ancient feasts of the Church, celebrated early enough to be mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles (20:16) and St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians (16:8). It is the 50th day after Easter (if we count both Easter and Pentecost), and it supplants the Jewish feast of Pentecost, which took place 50 days after the Passover and which celebrated the sealing of the Old Covenant on Mount Sinai...Read more..."

Zocolo Speaker Series
http://zocalopublicsquare.org
There is a talk coming up on Wednesday, June 10th at the Hammer Museum, "The Evolution of God"
It sounds interesting, and hopeful, and I think it would make great conversation for anyone in the Young Adult group.
Zocolo events are FREE, but you must make a reservation. I have reserved 2 spots. Who wants to come?
Shall we reserve more? Let me know if anyone wants to go!
To reserve/more info: http://zocalopublicsquare.org/lectureseries.php?event_id=285

Talk Teaser:
Is God good or bad? In both the Bible and the Koran, God’s mood seems to swing randomly between belligerence and benevolence. But the scriptures, read carefully, reveal a subtle pattern in these moods, a pattern that is key to understanding the evolution of the great monotheistic faiths. In an era when the perceived divisions between Judaism, Christianity,
and Islam spark violent conflict, understanding the deep parallels between the faiths--
and the forces that can move them to a higher moral plane--is crucial to building a peaceful world.
Robert Wright
, a Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation and the author of The Moral Animal, Nonzero, and the just-published The Evolution of God, visits Zócalo to discuss the birth and growth of the Abrahamic God--
and why his best years may lie ahead.
The New America Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute based in Washington, D.C. For more information, click www.newamerica.net

CATHOLIC PODCAST
Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know about a Catholic podcast I discovered last year that I really enjoy. It's called the Daily Breakfast and is hosted by Fr. Roderick Vonhögen of the Netherlands. It is part of the Star Quest Production Network founded by Fr. Roderick. In the Daily Breakfast, Fr. Roderick discusses everything from religion, entertainment, sci-fi, tech stuff, current events, etc., and the podcast was awarded the People's Choice Podcast Award in 2006 and 2007 in the religion/inspiration category.

Recent (and not so recent) episodes can be accessed on the Daily Breakfast website at http://www.sqpn.com/?cat=2. You can also download episodes from iTunes to your MP3 player.

Have a great weekend,
Sergio
